Dr Simeons said the <em><strong>“overeating is not the cause of obesity, it is the consequence. The beginning of obesity is the hypothalamus.”</strong></em></div>
<p>So what happens on the hcg diet is that hcg will assist the hypothalamus in providing a key that unlocks the abnormal fat. This is the stubborn hard to lose fat. <li>Complex carbohydrates include all whole grains such as whole grain pastas and breads, rice, millet, quinoa, oats, barley, rye; legumes such as lentils, beans, peas, garbanzos; starchy squashes such as acorn, butternut, and yams and potatoes. Eat 3-4 portions daily.</li>
<li>Fruits (whole and raw): 1-2 pieces daily in the winter; 2-4 pieces daily in the summer.</li>
</ul>
<p style="text-align: left;"><strong> </strong><strong><span style="color: #800000; font-size: x-large;">P</span>rotein</strong></p>
<ul style="text-align: left;">
<li>Animal sources include lean meats and chicken, which should be baked or broiled, not fried.</li>
<li>Fish sources include salmon, halibut, tuna, sardines, sole, cod – again, not fried. Try to have 2-4 portions weekly.</li>
<li>Plant sources include all legumes and legume products such as tempeh and tofu.  Eat 2-3 portions of protein daily.</li>

<li>Raw/cooked: in summer 3/1 (raw/cooked) portions daily; in winter 1/2 portions daily.</li>
<li>The raw portion would be preferably a large salad including 4 different colored vegetables.</li>

<p style="text-align: left;"><strong><span style="color: #800000; font-size: x-large;">F</span>ats</strong></p>
<ul style="text-align: left;">
<li>Saturated includes all animal fats, dairy, coconut oil, and any hydrogenated oils; these should be minimized.</li>
<li>Unsaturated includes all sunflower, safflower, walnut and other vegetable oils; raw, cold pressed, or expeller pressed oils should be used. Olive oil is monounsaturated and is the safest cooking oil.</li>
<li>Fats should be restricted to 1-2 tablespoons daily and preferably are in the form of essential fatty acids.</li>
</ul>
<p style="text-align: left;"><strong><span style="color: #800000; font-size: x-large;">E</span>ssential Fatty Acids – two types</strong></p>

<li>EPA oils from fish such as salmon, cod, mackerel, halibut, tuna and sardines. These oils are included in protein intake of fish. 2-4 servings per week.</li>
<li>Plant oils from safflower, walnut, flax seed, primrose, black current, borage. These oils should be eaten raw such as on salads, grains or vegetables.</li>

<p><strong>The liver is the major fat burning organ in the body and regulates fat metabolism by a complicated set of biochemical pathways. The liver can also pump excessive fat out of the body through the bile into the small intestines. A good liver cleansing program will help the liver to burn fat more efficiently and thus is an aid to weight control.</strong></p>
<p><strong>Many middle-aged people with excess fat in the abdominal area have a “fatty liver”. In this condition the liver has stopped burning fat and has turned into a fat storing organ. It becomes enlarged and swollen with greasy deposits of fatty tissue.</strong></p>
